Background
The purpose of this page is to try to give the public the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding air quality.

Current AQI
This number is derived by calculating the highest rolling 24hr average for pm2.5 (ug/m3) and the highest rolling 8hr average for ozone (ppb). These two rolling averages are then converted to an AQI value so they can be displayed equally on the graph. The highest number between ozone and pm2.5 is displayed as the "Current AQI". The indivdual AQI values are listed separately below the "Current AQI".

Air Pollution Forecast
Each weekday (Mon-Fri), RAPCA releases a 2-4 day air pollution forecast. These forecast are usually done sometime between 12pm and 2pm. Forecasts are done examining meteorlogical forecast data and statisical modeling. PM2.5 is done everday throughout the year while ozone is only done bewteen April and October. Ozone is a summertime problem, while pm2.5 can be a problem anytime throughout the year.

Air Pollution Observed
This table provides a 5-day lookback of observed or measure air quality data. If you click on any of the AQI values in this section it will link you to a page that will display the hourly reading for all the monitoring sites for any given day. Once you've linked to this page and can do a historical lookup for additional days.
