Data are updated hourly, all day, at about a quarter past the hour, but note that the hourly times listed are Eastern Standard.
NOTE: The running 8-hour averages shown represent the average of the currently shown hour with the 5 to 7 valid PREVIOUS hours. In other words, they are the "backward-looking" most recent 8-hour averages. (An 8-hour average is regarded as being valid if it has 6 or more valid hourly readings in it.) Officially, according to the USEPA, the 8 hour average for a specific hour is the "forward-looking" average of that hour with the following 5 to 7 valid hours, but we find such a representation confusing in a table like this one. Thus you will find here, that at 2pm, you will see the most recent 8-hour average as of 2pm regardless of the fact that that average actually "belongs" to the 7am time slot (7+8+9+10+11+12+1+2) according to USEPA policy.
